Welcome to Richland
Nestled in the scenic Ozarks of Central Missouri, Richland is truly one of the Midwest’s best-kept secrets for small-town living. Whether you’re looking to raise a family, start a business, or enjoy your retirement, Richland provides an ideal location for all. Our growing community, known for its friendly atmosphere, offers a wide range of opportunities and activities for residents and visitors alike. Stop by for a visit — but be warned, you may find yourself staying longer than you expected. The tranquil scenery and welcoming community have a unique way of making newcomers feel at home.
Located just 7 minutes from Interstate 44, Richland provides convenient access to metropolitan areas and recreational hotspots, offering residents both the serenity of rural living and the accessibility to nearby attractions. The region is known for its affordable, open-country living, complemented by clean air, a moderate climate, and pure water.
The Richland R-IV Schools (www.richlandbears.us), consisting of an elementary school, junior high, and high school, serve as the heart of our community. We take great pride in our school system, which was one of the first in the nation to offer internet access. Additionally, Richland R-IV has earned the highest rating of “Fully Accredited” by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Our community passionately supports its students, whether it’s cheering for the Bears in sports such as basketball, tennis, golf, softball, baseball, and soccer, or gathering at the Annual Senior Citizens Dinner for a Thanksgiving meal. The school truly belongs to the community, and the spirit of collaboration and pride is evident in the achievements of our students. Richland students have earned district and state recognition in various areas, including sports, band, choir, FFA, industrial arts, Mu Alpha Theta, and more. Students also benefit from partnerships with organizations like the Waynesville Career Center and Greater Ozarks Center for Advanced Professional Studies.
We are fortunate to be in close proximity to several of Missouri’s finest universities and colleges, including Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri State University in Springfield, Ozark Technical College, Central Methodist University, Drury University, Columbia College, Webster University, Park University, Central Texas College, and Lincoln University at Ft. Leonard Wood. Richland is only 30 minutes from university extensions at Ft. Leonard Wood and Lebanon.
Richland is also home to excellent healthcare and dental services, providing the care and attention you need. Central Ozark Medical Center, a National Health Services affiliated clinic, serves the area, along with Mercy Medical System’s facility in Richland. Private doctors, dentists, chiropractors, and veterinarians also offer services to support the well-being of our community.
